Denisa stood frozen in her place watching the red eyes stare at her, no words uttered. She could feel the heat radiating from the figure and her heart was pounding in her chest. Zanuel standing in front of her floating in the air. He watched the girl in front of him, observing her in silence, and reached for Denisa's hand, her hands cold as ice and palms covered with cold sweat in fear.
He held her ice-cold hands in his, slowly gaining his true form, and calming down. He pulled all the energy from her body and she fell to the ground. He left her on the ground and walks away from her but he couldn't leave, he walks back and comes out of the dungeon carrying her in his arms.
Denisa woke up and started looking around, trying to recall where she is and why she is not in her chambers, she looked around and saw a small cupboard covered with spider nets and a small table beside her, she looks around there was nothing except the spider nets and insects crawling around her. The realization hit hard "it wasn't a dream?" fear covered her face, she quickly gathered her dress and wears her slippers thinking about running out of the room to save herself but couldn't move an inch recalling things "wait, if it wasn't a dream then the monster with red eyes is real too"
She reminds herself, but this isn't the time to think about all that saving herself is more important, "I can't let him eat me" she says and runs out of the room, she kept running but it didn't matter how fast or how much she ran, she ended up in front of the same broken wooden door, her tired body gave in and she again fainted, Zanuel came and saw her lying on the ground and takes her back inside the house.
"Who is she?" Zanuel asks the man standing behind him wearing the armor, ready for war.
"My lord, she is Denisa, a mortal" he says looking at Denisa who was knocked out on the bed.
"Mortal?"
"yes lord"
"are you sure?" he asks sitting beside her, watching her sleep on the bed. "A mortal was able to open the coffin that was closed for over a millennium, is that possible?" he asks looking at Robert who was confused too.
"she's the daughter of a couple who took shelter in the kingdom, that's the only thing I could find my lord"
Robert is good with mind controlling and reading people's thoughts and incredible with manipulating humans; it wouldn't have been an impossible task for him to know things about Denisa.
"we'll know everything we want once she wakes up," Zanuel says looking at Denisa who was sleeping tired from all the running.
After a good nap Denisa finally woke up and finds herself inside the same room, she looks around and saw a gorgeous man sitting on the edge of the bed, his eyes closed and hair tied in a bun while a few strands of hair falling on his face making her want to push them back to take a clear view of his beautiful face, and his nose as sharp and pointed wished by every human on the planet. God really made him with patience. The lips were pink just like a newborn making her insecure about her dehydrated and chapped lips, she was busy gawking and enjoying the view of him that she didn't realize his eyes were on her "You awake" he asks, getting close to her. The eyes felt familiar but couldn't distinguish where she saw them.
"Who are you?" she asks, her hands trembling. Zanuel could feel her fear and pulled himself back and didn't push her.
"I mean no harm to you," Zanuel says in his defense.
"No one in the world screams I'm a bad person, don't you try to fool me" Denisa replied trying hard not to show how scared she is of him at the moment.
Zanuel lets a chuckle out and looks at her in amusement, "it feels good to be alive again" is it?
"Again?"
The realization hit, the eyes felt familiar because she saw them just a couple of hours ago, "are you the floating skeleton from the coffin?" she asks, her throat getting dry.
"floating skeleton?" he asks looking at his body "me?"
she remembers the eyes but is still confused "were you the one locked in the coffin?" she asks trying to connect the dots.
"yes"
"then how did you get this handsome?" Denisa's still in shock she is not the one speaking anymore.
Zanuel is enjoying "guess" he really is having fun with this human.
Denisa thinks of ways he could have gotten his form back "no you did not drink my blood to get that body" she says looking for marks on her neck and wrists.
Zanuel looks at her in disbelief "Do I look like a blood-sucking creature to you!" he says in disgust while Denisa's still waiting for his answer "I just borrowed your energy" he says getting up from the bed, and walking away from the bed.
"my energy? how?" she asks curiously following him back not minding the distance and getting close to him.
He looks at her getting close to him, the fear in her eyes vanishing slowly "weren't you afraid of me a few minutes ago?" he asks, locking his eyes with hers.
"Who said I am afraid of you?" she asks in a trembling voice, breaking eye contact with him.
"no one"
"wait, what time is it?"
"why?"
"I have to go back to my chambers, if not I will be in trouble"
"Trouble?"
"yes"
"you are not going anywhere!" he says fighting his anger trying not to scare her.
"What do you mean? I must go back! I brought you back to life isn't that enough? just stop with the nightmares now I'm done with them!" she says walking towards the door.
"I SAID NO," he says, everything in the room started falling and the door closed stopping Denisa from walking out of the room, everything in the room shattered and his eyes turned flaming red in anger.
Denisa turned around to face Zanuel and saw the fire flaming in his eyes, the same eyes, she takes a few steps back in fear but still managed to ask for reasons "why are you doing this? what more do you want from me?" she asks in trembling voice tears falling down her cheeks. The eyes were scaring her.
"you can't leave!" he says walking towards her.
"why"
Zanuel has no answer, he knows his actions are unreasonable. He should have killed her the moment he stepped out of the coffin, but he did not instead he brings her back with him because he couldn't leave her in the dungeon dying, nothing made sense anymore, not him getting out of the coffin by a mere mortal or his anger.
