The Nightmares

"My lady, you had another nightmare last night?" Olivia inquired fixing the bed and tucking it in nicely.

"Yes. Olivia, I hardly get any sleep these days" Denisa says staring at her reflection in the mirror. The dull face, red eyes, and dehydrated lips begging for sleep.

"My lady, I think you should seek help," Olivia says crouching in front of Denisa holding her hands in hers "you just have one week left before you get married, and no groom would want to marry a bride who looks like a ghost," she says tucking Denisa's hair back her ears.

Olivia is in her early thirties, she didn't get married, just so she could take care of Denisa after her parents died. Denisa's parents were warriors, who died protecting the people of the kingdom from the enemies, and to repay them for the sacrifice the king passed a decree to marry Crown Prince Aurous to Denisa.

"you're right Olivia, I will go to the palace later and cancel the wedding," Denisa says looking at Olivia who couldn't say a word and went into shock, Denisa looks at her state and laughs.

Olivia heaves a sigh of relief "My lady! you shouldn't say things like that! If someone hears that every single person here will die, including me!"

"Okay okay I won't," she says in surrender.

The day went by quickly trying and altering the dresses, and Denisa totally forgot about the nightmares.

Everyone left for their room to get some sleep, starting tomorrow it will be tiring and they will not get any sleep. Denisa walked up to her room, fear of the nightmares covered her face, she thought of asking Olivia to sleep with her but she was already in bed like others.

'Nothing will happen Nes' she keeps reminding herself as the nightmares felt real.

"What happened?"

A voice from behind made Denisa jump, she turns around and Aurous was standing behind her.

"How many times do I have to remind you Prince?" she says fear flashing in her eyes. "This isn't your Palace, these are my chambers"

Even though Denisa was promised to Aurous, she never once fell in love with him. Aurous has been trying to make her fall for him for five years but it is of no use. She never once looked at him the way he wished and the marriage means nothing to her but an order to be followed to avoid getting her loved ones killed.

"Only you in this whole kingdom are daring enough to yell at me!" he says walking towards her, his golden captivating eyes locked with Denisa's amber-brown eyes.

Aurous, isn't the name majestic? He was given the name by his father, King Alexander Luther, as he has the eyes of gold, any person who sees him is captivated by the eyes or bewitched.

Even those captivating eyes didn't work on Denisa nor did his achievements. He is the only Prince who never lost a single war and always came home with a victory.

"And?" Denisa asks Aurous who isn't shocked "Get some sleep Nes! You won't be getting any from tomorrow," he says staring at Denisa's lips, and taking a sharp breath.

"..."

Aurous leaves and Denisa walks up to her room, his visit wasn't that bad, it helped her take her mind off the fear of the nightmare and soon she went into a deep slumber of sleep.

The temperature in the room suddenly went down and Denisa opened her eyes, she was not in her room anymore but the same place she visits every night in her dreams. "Another nightmare?" she says rubbing her arms with her palms to keep herself warm.

"Why am I always taken here?"

Denisa was not sure about anything anymore, she had no clue what this is as all about, it feels so real as if she is actually walking and breathing there.

"What place is this" she looked around, but there is no trace of a human being or an animal, everything was covered with smoke, Denisa walked around and found nothing, she walked further into the dungeon, she never walked further in the dungeon before, but now she is done having the same nightmare every day and losing her sleep, she looked around for anything which can explain the nightmares and bumped into a huge box.

The loud thud echoed in the whole dungeon, she looked at the box she bumped hurting her stomach, it is covered with spider nets, she takes the nets off to take a clear view of the huge box while rubbing her stomach which was hurting, it's a coffin.

"Coffin?" she looks at the coffin, why would there be a coffin in her dreams, she stood there doing nothing wondering if it was right to be present here, but brushed her thoughts, and soon started taking the spider net and dusting the coffin. She is scared, but having the same nightmare every day scared her more and she can't afford that.

Denisa clears her throat "let's just open it" she already took care of the spider nets and looks for the lock to open the coffin, but there was no lock. If the coffin has no locks then how was it locked?

She quickly scans around for something to break the coffin, but this dungeon has nothing but smoke, she keeps looking around and finds a stone on the ground and grabs it to break the coffin to see what's inside or who is inside the coffin, smashing the coffin didn't work either, instead, she got herself hurt and her palm started bleeding.

The warm blood from her palms fell on the coffin "I can't believe how real this dream feels, I can bleed and feel the pain" she says trying to stop her palm from bleeding. "Nes let's try something else, it's your dream you can find anything just search," she says turning around to find something, but the coffin unlocked, and opened wide.

Denise turned around and walks further to see what it is and if someone really is inside the coffin. She takes baby steps pondering, thinking if this is right. But it's already late to think about all that. She takes further steps and sees the coffin was empty. "I knew it! there was no possibility that someone would have been here!" she says walking back to tend her wounded palm, but stood still without moving when a big figure hovered in front of her and her eyes met the fire flaming red eyes.

Hi there, Qudsee here! I really have no idea what I am doing with my life, I start writing when my family did not support the idea of me working after graduation (I really wanted to work) but being born in a conservative brown family you really have no choice as you grow up listening to no and saying more yes. I wanted to do something and thought why not make my hobby a profession and I had to break that to my family and when I said about it to they were not against it but there were not really in favor either, but I was not ready for another no, so here I am writing, trying to make the dream come true but I can't make it without your support, so please support me in my journey.
